On 8 May, DEPLOY was honoured to be invited by Dr Mary Ann Tsao of TPC Group and Tsao Foundation, and Caroline Seow, Founder of B Lab Singapore, to speak at a special evening hosted at Tsao Pao Chee (TPC)’s headquarters.
The event brought together a community of purpose-driven professionals—from impact investors to industry pioneers—for a night of thoughtful dialogue, plant-based fine dining, and conscious fashion.
DEPLOY’s Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Dr Bernice Pan, delivered a poignant keynote titled Designing for Change: A Blueprint for Systemic Reform Through Fashion.
She broke down the fashion system to its fundamentals, explaining how human and environmental exploitation—and the resulting value destruction—came into being in the 21st century.
She also outlined why DEPLOY’s innovative business model and its 360° Sustainability Compass were conceived and developed: to address these structural challenges by designing not only new products and processes, but also a new pipeline and order that rehumanises commerce—its relationships and dynamics—to drive systemic reform through fashion. This was contextualised within the B Corp movement, with DEPLOY currently ranked as the highest-scoring B Corp globally across the fashion, retail, and manufacturing sectors.
At the heart of DEPLOY’s change making is its founding philosophy: that clothing is not a commodity of consumption, but an interface of care. In an industry still shaped by a linear supply chain and a circular economy of waste, DEPLOY’s novel helix model creates ingenious and beautifully fitted garments—extending the product lifecycle while maintaining appeal and versatility. These pieces are designed to evolve with people’s life stages, generating newness and variety through resource conservation, all while reducing consumption.
Bernice introduced signature DEPLOY hero pieces that embody this approach, including the SEASON Multi-Way Trench Coat—a timeless, multifunctional garment that can be worn five ways: as a coat, a dress, a pinafore, a bolero, and a hooded capelet.
The design served as a tangible example of DEPLOY’s commitment to bridging creativity and construction—serving both the customer and the planet through sustainable, smart design.
Bernice concluded the talk with a call to action across all levels—from personal to organisational to civic: from education and public awareness, to business transition guidelines, sustainable investment scale-ups, and meaningful legislation, regulation, and enforcement.
She emphasised that certification is not only a benchmark for accountability, but also a long-term framework for change—encouraging brands to redesign operations, rethink supply chains, and ultimately create better, smarter products.
The evening continued with a sumptuously nourishing plant-based dinner prepared by TPC Group’s Head Chef, giving guests the chance to connect over values-led conversation and cuisine. It concluded with a private salon viewing of DEPLOY’s SS'25 collection, allowing attendees to experience the brand’s philosophy in practice—through garments made from exquisite, environmentally certified natural fibres that marry purpose with precision and beauty.
Throughout the evening, a powerful message resonated: the future of fashion lies not in more consumption, but in valuism over consumerism—serving people, not markets.
As Bernice shared, rehumanising commerce and reconnecting with nature is not idealistic—it’s essential. Certification is just the beginning. There is no endgame. Only evolution.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who joined us, and to B Lab Singapore and TPC Group for hosting us so generously and making this meaningful evening of shared purpose and exchange possible.
