Couture x Caligraphy Exhibition

Bernice Pan,Founder & Creative Director of DEPLOY was honoured to be invited to collaborate with the Chinese calligraphy art maestro Tong Yang-Tze for this art and fashion collaboration exhibition. 

From Ink to Apparel III: A Crossroad for Calligraphy Art and Fashion Design was co-hosted by Vogue and World Design Capital in October in Taipei. Bernice  exhibited a collection of five couture pieces entitled The Interwoven Frontiers of Circular Fashion. Each piece informed and inspired by Tong Yang-Tze's iconic calligraphy art.

Conception:  The modularity of Chinese characters as framework for cutting | The ergonomics of human curves as construction for garment | The philosophy of multi-functionality as medium for sustainable fashion.

Her resolute focus on calligraphy as the epicentre | The precise force of her flow as diameter | The long breaths of her chi as centrifugal motion.

Evocation:  Pan’s deep immersion in Anglo-Chinese culture as parchment | The craft of fine British tailoring as brush-stroke | The forms of {無} character as ink on white.

Conception:  The modularity of Chinese characters as framework for cutting | The ergonomics of human curves as construction for garment | The philosophy of multi-functionality as medium for sustainable fashion.
